Acceptable use policy

What may not be hosted or done on Orbit, what happens when this policy is broken, and how to report abuse or a copyright complaint.

Last updated 4 October 2026

Draft. The company details on this page, and some of its terms, are placeholders until launch. It is not in force yet.

In short

  • No illegal content, fraud, malware, attacks or spam, and nothing that harms other people.
  • No cryptocurrency mining, no extra accounts to get more than one trial, no getting around limits or billing.
  • Do not try to reach the apps or data of other customers.
  • We usually warn first. In serious cases we stop an app at once and tell you after.
  • Report abuse to abuse@arrangic.com. Send copyright complaints to legal@arrangic.com.

The full text below is what counts.

On this page

Orbit is a shared platform. An app that does harm puts the people it targets at risk, and with them every other customer on the platform. This policy says what may not be done here.

It is part of the terms of service. “We” and “us” mean Example Hosting, Inc., the company that runs Orbit. “You” means the person or organization that uses the service. The policy applies to everything you run on Orbit, to what your apps serve, and to how you use the dashboard.

What is not allowed

Breaking the law or harming people

  • Content or activity that is illegal where you are, where we are, or where the people it reaches are.
  • Anything that sexually exploits children. We remove it and report it to the authorities.
  • Threats, harassment and calls to violence.
  • Publishing private information about people without a lawful reason, or collecting personal data in ways the law forbids.

Fraud and deception

  • Phishing and fake sign-in pages.
  • Scams, and pretending to be a person or a company you are not.
  • Apps built to mislead people about who runs them, or about what happens to their money or their data.

Malware and attacks

  • Hosting, spreading or controlling malware.
  • Denial of service attacks, from the platform or against it.
  • Scanning or probing the systems of other people without their permission.
  • Breaking into accounts or systems, or trying to.

Spam and network abuse

  • Sending bulk messages that nobody asked for, by email or any other channel.
  • Running open mail relays or open proxies.
  • Passing traffic through the platform to hide where it comes from.

Using the platform for what it is not

  • Mining cryptocurrency.
  • Running workloads whose only purpose is to use up trial credit.
  • Opening more than one account to get more than one trial.
  • Getting around limits, quotas or billing.

Interfering with the platform or other customers

  • Trying to reach the apps, the data or the accounts of another customer.
  • Overloading systems that customers share.
  • Testing our systems for weaknesses in ways the security page does not allow.

Infringing the rights of others

  • Using copyrighted work, trademarks or trade secrets without the right to.

These lists give examples. Something close in kind that does the same harm is not allowed either.

Uses the platform is not built for

Do not run systems on Orbit where a failure could cost a life or cause serious injury or serious damage, such as medical devices or the control of vehicles or industrial plants. The service comes without a promised level of availability, as the terms of service say.

Limits

Each plan sets how many apps and replicas you can run and how much bandwidth is included. The pricing page has the numbers. Builds, repositories and environment variables have limits too, and the documentation lists them.

Staying inside the limits is not always enough. If the use of one team is far out of proportion and makes the service worse for others, we may slow it down or stop it, and we tell you why.

Hosting for your own customers

You may host apps for your own customers. To us you remain the customer: you answer for what those apps do and for keeping to this policy.

What we do when this policy is broken

In most cases we write to you first, say what is wrong and give you time to fix it.

In serious or urgent cases we act first and tell you after. Examples are phishing, malware, the exploitation of children, and an attack in progress. Acting can mean stopping an app, suspending a team or closing an account.

Repeated or serious breaches end the account. Where we believe a crime has been committed, we may report it to the authorities and give them what the law requires.

Fees are not refunded when we suspend or close an account for breaking this policy. See the refund policy.

If an app hosted on Orbit does something on this list, write to abuse@arrangic.com. Tell us:

  • the address of the app,
  • what you saw, and when,
  • anything that shows it, such as a screenshot or the full headers of an email.

We look at every report. We cannot always tell you what we did, because that can involve the details of another customer.

If you believe an app hosted on Orbit uses your work without permission, send a notice to legal@arrangic.com. It needs:

  1. your name and how to reach you,
  2. the work that you say is infringed,
  3. the address where the material is,
  4. a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the owner, by the owner’s agent or by the law,
  5. a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or are authorized to act for the owner,
  6. your signature, typed or by hand.

We pass the notice to the customer and may remove or block the material. The customer can answer with a counter-notice that says why the material should stay. We then tell you, and the material may return unless you tell us that you have gone to court over it.

We close the accounts of customers who infringe repeatedly.

Changes to this policy

We may change this policy as the platform changes and as the ways of misusing it change. Changes are announced the way the terms of service describe.
